When we are young we make a TON of mistakes. We embrace these mistakes and use them to help us learn.
With this approach we get good at a lot of things, really quickly.
However, as we grow older, there is a shift… A shift in our attitudes towards mistakes.
Rather than celebrating them, we punish them. Rather than embracing them, we are ashamed of them. Rather than seeking them out, we avoid them at all costs.
Our focus shifts from learning, growing, and getting better to worrying about our performance and how we look. And this shift derails our ability to learn.
There are two sources that are the driving force behind the shift:
The feedback we get
Our lizard brain
If we unpack these and take a closer look at learning we can change our approach to development within ourselves and others.
I hope this video inspires you to learn something new.
